Dame Jocelyn Barbara Hepworth, (10 January 1903 – 20 May 1975) was an English artist and sculptor. Her work exemplifies Modernism and in particular modern sculpture. She was one of the few female artists of her generation to achieve international prominence.


Pauline Boty, 1958
Pauline Boty (6 March 1938 – 1 July 1966) was a founder of the British Pop art movement and the only female painter in the British wing of the movement. Boty's paintings and collages often demonstrated a joy in self-assured femininity and female sexuality, and expressed overt or implicit criticism of the "man's world" in which she lived. Her rebellious art, combined with her free-spirited lifestyle, has made Boty a herald of 1970s feminism.


Marie-Louise von Motesiczky, 1959
Marie-Louise von Motesiczky was born in Vienna in 1906. After leaving school aged only 13, Marie attended art schools in various locations around Europe including Vienna, Paris (at the Montparnasse Painting Academy) and Berlin. Following the end of the war, Motesiczky exhibited her paintings in many European institutions and she continued to work from her house in London, where she lived only with her mother and a single maid
